Progression
Taking all of the blogs below into consideration this blog is a summary of the progression made on my digipak, putting all of the mentioned points in my editing blogs and general feedback blogs to analyse the seemingly finished front cover:
Firstly is the colour scheme. Taking all feedback into consideration I went back to the drawing board and removed the coloured squares on the main cover. The idea as suggested was too much going on and upon looking at digipaks I began to realise a very moderate, non exaggerated digipak cover. Which mine was diverting far from. So I used a calm grey for a monotonous slow feel but I kept the complex colourful squares on the back of the digipak for a good unique contrast as mentioned in the blog of producing it. But also for an electro pop element with a wide colour palette. This also enables me to use a wide series of colours for fonts and backgrounds keeping it very fresh and clean despite being recommended to only use two to three colours which I did use.
The font Bison was used for the gritty urban feel, and the movie star font for a distinct contrast in the feel of the fonts. The Movie Star font looks very electro pop as the font itself looks like spotlights. This font also conform to Calvin Harris's motiff of the spotlight sunglasses acting as inspiration for the font. The purple streak that strikes through the front cover's text is to make it stand out that little more but as an additional hint of colour for the album cover .
The ever complex process of editing my face was a certain addition to the album cover and a necessity in my opinion especially for the likes of a debut album. Looking at a series of album covers and digipaks, I noted that images in my particular genre were bold, informal and definitely recognisable to the artist on screen. Which is why my head is the centre piece to alleviate any distraction of background and clothes acting as another reason to alleviate the coloured squares as to not distract the audience. My favourite feature to this image is the purple outline that surrounds my image making it look very electro pop with the matching eye colour striking to the audience that "I Am Electropop."
