Popping into HMV

Researching ancillary products

I popped into HMV today after college and had a look at some of the digipaks and CD covers of some bands and artists from the electropop genre. As our music video is of the same genre, I thought it would be good to get an idea of how electropop genre bands and artisits design thier CD covers/digipaks.

Here are a few quick photo's my friend took of me.

I had a quick look at Rihanna's albums as although she used to be more of an R&B singer, a lot of her songs these days are more of the pop/electropop genre. She also made a song called 'We found love', with Calvin Harris (who's songs are of the electropop genre and he is also the artist of our song we chose to make our music video!).

A lot of Example's songs are of the electropop genre too (especially his song "Changed the way you kiss me"), so I took a look at his album. I also liked the black and white design of his album, and its plainess - I may take a similar apporoach when creating my digipak.

I took a look at the CD's/digipak's too. I picked these off the 'electro pop/dance' genre.

I took a look at this CD cover "Clubbers Guide 2011", which is of the pop genre - similar to electropop genre.

David Guetta's songs are also of the electro house/electropop genre and so I had a look at his CD's too. In these albums he uses a bright plain colour as the background with a long shot picture of him posing in the middle, with his name in bold going across horizontally. Should I take a similar approach? Hmmmm....
