Alternative artwork
I was always aware of the album cover for Calvin Harris's Ready For The Weekend. But whilst looking on the internet, I stumbled across an alternative front cover artwork which surprisingly was not for a digipak but just the regular CD. Upon further research I realised that this CD had the same song (Ready For The Weekend) only with a series of different remixes. As electro pop is usually played in clubs and thus having fast paced beats and samples, DJ's can play around the vocals to different beats and completely manipulate the song. The alternative was also relesed earlier than the album on August 9th, 2009 and the official album being released on August 27th, 2009. I feel the track Ready For the Weekend was obviously released before the CD but with DJ's playing it in clubs before the actual album release, so this was more for the dedicated clubbers to get ahold of the song they were singing along too with all of the remixes which is why it now prices below the official album (not to mention the fact that there is only about 5 song on the CD).
These screen shots show HMV's pricing, track listing and dates of when they came out. Personally I prefer the remix album cover as it is a lot more interesting than the bland black and white image of the lady in sunglasses. When coming to creating my digipak I will refer back to this as inspiration. The album cover derives from the video to none other than:
