Researching ancillary products
As part of our promotional package, we have to make a magazine advertisement to promote our artists' album. Before I do so I have analysed magazine adverts of other artists albums, of the same or similar genre of our song choice.
#1 - CALVIN HARRIS
(Please click the image so you can see it enlarged).
With this Calvin Harris advertisment, they have simply used the design of his album as the background. I think I may use the same style when creating my advertisment.
#2 - FRANK MUSIK
I particularly like the fact that this advertisement has included quotations from instutions giving positive feedback about the album. This is a good way to make consumers feel that they are missing out if they do not buy the digipak/cd, and also convinces them they will like the album too.
#3 - BASEMENT JAXX
From looking closely at these three magazine adverts and other ones too, I have come to a conclusion that nearly all of them have the album on the advertisment. This is the best way to promote it and also it allows consumers to 'visually' know what they are looking for when they go out to purchase the album from the shop. Electropop advertisements are not too 'busy' and are usually plain and has basic info such as the name of the artist and album, release date, the artist/band website, names of other traks in the digipak/album, and a logo of the artist/band's record label - so I must make sure I include all these basic information when creating my own to ensure I am sticking to the electropop (and general)convention of advertisement.
