Planning for ancillary products
I have looked online, and also at previous student digipaks to get some ideas for the style of my ancillary work. It is essential that I create it in a way that will represent my genre - electropop. Below are the ideas that I have in mind.
My font style
I had a look at Calvin Harris's (the original artist of our song choice) albums, to analyse the type of fonts he uses. One of the fonts that I liked the most was the one below, and I have decided I will use this font the name of my album.
This track 'Flashback' is the actual song we used in our music video. This type of font is called 'dot spot', which conotates parties and disco lights, and by immediately looking at it the audience can get a sense of an electropop/pop genre.
I'm also thinking to use this type of font, called 'battle star' for the name of the artist 'Nathan Miller', which will be the largest text on the front of the digipak.
The Colours
I want to create an 'electropop' theme, and so I want the colours I use to contrast against each other.
As you can see, the background for FrankMusik's album is black, with a contrasting hot pink as the colour for this name. I think this works really well in reprseting the genre of his music. I will take a similar approach by using black as the main colur of my background throghout my digipak, and I will mainly use the colours yellow and white for the fonts.
I want the front of my digipak to look similar to the above. I want a close up image of Nathan, against a black background, his name iin bold in a bright colour at the top with the name of his album in 'dot spot' font just below.
