Research for Music video: Laura Mulvey representation

In 1992 Laura Muvley who is a feminist film theorist said the following quote
“In a world ordered by sexual imbalance, pleasure in looking has been split between active/male and passive/female. The determining male gaze projects its fantasy onto the female figure which is styled accordingly”.
Over the past few years we have seen more females in music videos. These females are normally dressed in bikinis or just very revelling clothes.
Here is a few shots from the clip Cold Shoulder performed by N-Dubz.

Females are shown more as objects that are there to make male fantasies come true rather then being seen as another human being.
There are many examples when women are shown more as objects and less as a person in music videos, you can see this by the way they are dressed, the way they move, their facial expressions and also the way in some videos where they are not shown as a whole (whole body) but in parts (only sections of their bodies are shown). A good example of this is ‘Benny Benassi – Satisfaction

Here are more examples:

Fedde Le Grand - Put Your Hands Up For Detroit

Alex Gaudino feat Crystal Waters - Destination Calabria

David Guetta - Sexy Chick (Featuring Akon)

50 cent’s music video of Disco Inferno is another example to show that these types of music videos can be in many different genres.
