Research for Music video: Analysis of a music video

We was asked to analysis a music video that we believe is a good example how a music video should be, i decided to analysis the music video ‘A prophecy’ by Asking Alexandria

The music video starts off with a slow melody while showing slow motion images in the background, as soon as the drumming starts the videos pace increases dramatically with the camera hardly staying still.
The camera moves the most when focusing on the bands vocalist as he hardly stays still, this keeps up the videos pace and never making it look boring by not using still shots.
Slow motion is used throughout the video which contrasts with the fast editing; it’s used in-between the fast editing shown in the shots seen at 1:12, 1:28, and 1:45. The effect is also used most effectively at 1:58 to show that the pace of the song has calmed down. The fasting editing is then used again at 2:48 to show that the songs speed has increased again.

The video’s editing is in sink with the drummers beat which makes the music video look more eye-catching as the cuts are linked to the music. As there are many different shots used which is put together with the fast editing throughout the video.

The reason I think this is a great music video is because of the fast editing used and also how the slow motion is shown in parts of the video to contrast with the tempo of the song. Also because there are many different shots used which is put together with the fast editing throughout the video it matches the music’s genre which is metalcore which you expect to have a high tempo.
