Analysing our rough cut

Production of music video

This is our rough cut, it is only 47 seconds long and there are of course many changes we need to make to it.

The good points about our rough cut:

1. We have edited to the beat which I think is really good, and makes our video look more professional. Most music videos are significantly edited to the beat of the song so we are aware it is important to do this throughout most of our video.
2. I think most of our shots are quite good too. Even though we filmed a lot of the base tracks at night, the background may be a little dark however the artist is always bright int he shot and we can clearly see his face due to our good use of lighting.
3. We have added in quite a few shots of billboards, posters, street name signs so we can establish the location.
4.  I think our use of fade in/fade out transition work really well and help to give the video to flow more smoothly

Improvements to be made/Bad points about our rough cut:

1. We have quite a lot of base tracks, which I think is good as it means we have money to cut from.

2. At the end of our first base track before it changes to another shot, the clip ends showing the back of his head (as show in the image above) which we think doesn't look good. We plan to change this, so instead, the shot ends with his face showing (as this shot is a 360 degrees rotation shot).

3. We don't like the way these two shots follow each other. We don't think its smooth enough so therefore we're going to change it here.

4. We're also going to change the way we have edited these shots together as we feel they don't look as good as we thought they would.

5. We also don't like this shot, so we've decided we'll remove it.

Overall I feel our rough cut is okay, but I know our final video will be of much better quality and the editing will be improved.
