Planning for music video
When choosing our music video, we already knew the kind of concept we were going to go for. The genre of our music is electropop/electrohouse/pop, and when analysing music videos from the same genre, the concepts (or theme) of the videos are the same or very similar. So we have decided to take a similar approach, so that our video fits in with the genre we are working with.
Below is the video again.
The main focus on this video is about Clavin Harris having a 'flashback' about the party he had the night before. The main focus of the video, however, is heavily on females dressed in revealing clothes, dancing, getting drunk, flirting and having a good time. The video is an amplification, as it doesn't necessarily narrate the song, however relates to it. We have deicded to take a similar approach as we want to make sure our video represents the genre in which we are working with.
Unlike Harris's video, we have decided to focus our music video mainly on males. The focus will be on the artist (Nathan) and his two friends Asilhan and Temi who are on a night out. The main focus, however, will be on Nathan as he is the actual artist and so we need to allow the audience to identify who he is and familiarise with him. We have taken a similar approach as our video will be based on the guys having a good night out, and we will be filming in different locations as we show them travelling all night to different locations just having fun. Becuase the video constantly repeats the word 'flashback', we have decidecd to make the concept of the video like an actual flashback. When we show the shots of the three friends (Nathan, Temi and Asilhan) having a great night out (mainly on the streets), these are actually Nathan's memories from the night before. Unlike the original video, our shots will jump between shots of Nathan walking home the next morning from the house at which he slept at over night.
