Creating my digipak: Finding new fonts

After wasting my first lesson in class in creating my digipak as I was stuck on my font selection, I found the website www.datfont.com which has many different types of fonts availible. I looked at techno fonts as it would suit my genre eleco-pop the most.

I found many font styles that I think would suit my digipak and which I can definetly use.

 

 

 

Creating my digipak

After our first lesson on making our digipaks unfortuanetly I did not get far as I was stuck on my font selection.

Here is what i got up to..

As you can see I did not get far. I couldn't find the font I wanted so i tried out this one as well as many others which I have taken note of.

The font you see on my digipack right now for my artists name is the same font David Guetta used for this single
'Sexy bitch'.

 

After failing to do much in my first class of creating our digipaks I will be making sure I will sort out my selection of fonts as soon as possible, with my artist name font being most important.

Planning for Digipak: MOCK-UP FOR ADVERT 2

After making a mock-up for my advert I showed one of my media teachers, Rebecca. Also she was pleased with how it looked there was one thing i was told to change. The aritst name should be the biggest thing on the advert and also must get the most attention so i changed my mock-up to match this.

As well as creating a digipack we will also be making an advert to promote our artists album.


Here is one i created...

 

You can see that the main features in the advert is that its OUT NOW!, The artists name, a close up of the artists face and also an image of the album.

I also wrote that it will be available on itunes as many adverts say that now. I will also be adding on quotes from what newspapers/radio stations have said about it to try make the album get as much attention as possible.

Planning for Digipak: MOCK-UP

I have done a mock-up of how I want my digipack to look like.
It will have 4 panels, front, back, inside left panel and also cd housing panel.

The mock-up was made from the initial ideas i had for my digipak.

 

Here is a picture that was taken of me while I was creating my mock-up of my digipack. I was also searching dj headphones to make my digipack look as  professional  as I can.

As you could see i have stuck to my initial ideas. Artists name big and clear at the top of the front panel with the albums name at the bottom of the front panel which is also very clear to read. You can see that in the picture I couldn't fit the artists name in but that is only becuase i did not space the letters out correctly. Also on the front panel you can see a close up of the arists face with headphones.

 

The back panel looks very plain at the moment. The title 'Tracks' has the same font as the albums name and also the font of the track list is a dot matrix font as my initial idea was.

 The inside left panel  has a close up of the artists face but only half his face showing. Also the lyrics from the main song of the album 'Flashback' is shown on the panel incase fans want to learn the lyrics.

I have not decided what to have on the background of the cd housing panel yet.

Planning for Digipak: FONTS

While designing my mock-up of my digipak I took some pictures to show where i got my ideas/insiration from. David Guetta a well known dj who is known i nthe genres house music, electro pop and r&b has used many different fonts in his albums. This font from the album 'Nothing but the beat' caught my eye the most. I believe the font looks futuristic and eye catchy.

I have tried it out on my mock-up of my front panel to see how it goes with my album.

 

 When it came to finding a good font to use for my album title, I saw the font Example used for his album title in his album 'Playing in the shadows'. Looking very plain and simple does the job as I believe if you use to many exoctic fonts it would clash with eachother and not make your digipak look good.

 When deciding to what font to use for my track list i decided to use a dot matrix type of font to represent that the music is very technological. Although we was told to try stick with 2 fonts I want to first try out how these 3 fonts go together. 

The word 'Tracks' will be in the same colour and font as the albums title to make it look consistent.

 

I have also used the website www.cooltext.com  to check out other fonts I may want to use.

I looked at mosty futuristic/techo font types.

Planning for Digipak

After analysing 3 different album covers in the same genre as mine (electro-pop) I now have a rough idea to how my dikipak will look like.

My digipak will have a plan black background with the artists name big and clear at the front of the album placed at the top of the front cover. I plan to have the artist name in neon blue colour. I have not fully decided on the font I will use yet but it will have a futuristic/techno look to it. As well as the artist name on the front of the cover the Albums name will also be shown. The albums name will be shown at the bottom of the front cover in white text. Again I have not fully decided in what font I will use but it will match the same font as my track list which will be shown at the back of my album.

Image wise on the front of my digipak there will be a close up image of the artists face to show the audience who’s album it is.

At the back of my digipak the track list will be shown in the same font as the albums name which is on the front panel.

In the inside of my digipack I will have one panel where the CD will be and on the other inside panel I will have a close-up of only half the artists face. Beside the artists face I will have lyrics from the music video we did “Flashback”. I will state why only this songs lyrics will be shown as it was the best song of the album.

I have not yet decided whether I will have anything in the background of the panel with the CD holding plate.
